After receiving so much positive feedback about the JoeyBra I wanted my readers to receive more information on this prodigious product of our dreams. Yesterday, May 3rd and 3:00 pm, my call to Washington was answered by the cheerful voice of Mariah, one half of the JoeyBra duo. Kyle was in class and insisted that Mariah continued the interview and speak on her behalf.
Mariah: Hello, this is Mariah Gentry
Karla: Hey Mariah, This is Karla. How are you today?
Mariah: I'm Great!
Karla: Are you and your partner ready for the interview?
Mariah: My partner is actually still in class until 5:30 so we just thought that I would go ahead and continue with the interview and answer all of your questions.
Karla: Okay, perfect. Well lets get started. So you [both] are students of Washington University, so what is your major?
Mariah: Yes that is correct, I am currently majoring in Business Entrepreneurship and Environmental Science.
Karla: And if you don't mind me asking your age...?
Mariah: I'm actually 21 and Kyle is 20.
Karla: That's awesome, so we are the same age. Its great to see such young business women.
Karla: So what made you both realize that you needed to make this product a reality?
Mariah: A couple years ago, Kyle was invited to many events and at these events so many girls were losing their phones. And we realized how many girls phones are stolen or lost at parties and bars. So we just thought why don't we stick them in our bras, lets make that happen. So in one of our classes we decided to make this issue our focus and made an analysis of whether girls would like it, need it, want it, you name it, that's what we focused on.
Karla: Wow, so you both identified an issue and put a solution in action quickly.
Mariah: Yes! And after the class ended we found a manufacturer and entered a Business Plan Competition at the University of Washington. One day we got a lot of press from the judges and recieved their first mention through Geekwire. We feel very lucky.
Karla: Amazing. Ive been sharing this product with my Blog Readers, Instagram, Twitter and Facebook and its getting amazing feedback. So I know this product is what the female market wants.
Karla: Okay so I think we are all wondering, how did the name "JoeyBra" come about?
Mariah: So a Joey is a baby kangaroo...
Karla: Right.
Mariah: And a mother Kangaroo puts her most valuable things in her pouch. So we named it the JoeyBra because ladies would put their valuable things such as Phone, ID, Card, and Key in their bra.
Karla: Well that makes perfect sense and it all ties in perfectly.
