An Ode to the Class of 08'

Today I've just been going through all of my high school pictures, and really began thinking about my senior year in high school and what the prominent style was. I'm gonna take it back a little bit and reflect what the the trendy gadgets, styles, and even phrases where.

So attending Palisades High, we had diversity at our fingertips. So this will be a pretty good mash up of the class of 08's wish list.

  1. The Sidekick LX. This is when it was acceptable to have a full song as your ring tone, instead of twitter followers you had AIM buddies, and the infamous Sh*t List was sent to your Tmail.
  2. TIU was the catch phrase. Everyone would scream it at clubs and parties, or just put it in their Away Messages on their sidekicks.
  3. Lil Wayne's "Lollipop" and "A Mili" blasted through your car speakers, ipod headphones, ring tones, anywhere that played sounds really.
  4. Juicy Couture. Juicy Couture Volour Suites and Jewelry was a huge thing to have during this year. Don't let me get started on the charms for your bracelet.
  5. Clicks. Clicks were represented by fitted hats in our year, and we had so many! Want me to jog your memory? The ones prevalent to Pali were Certified Ballers Squad (CB's), Money Over B*tch N*ggas (MOBN), Thirsty Boys (TB), Above Average (AA), and a bunch more I'm sure I'm forgetting.
Am I forgetting anything? Comment and remind me!

A Club Fix for the Ladies! A MUST READ!

What does the fellas have on us when we go to the club? Being virtually hands free. Yes a cute clutch is better than our everyday totes, but you must admit the joy you feel when one of your friends wants to "rest" and ends up resting with 6 purses in her lap.

Introducing the concept of the JoeyBra!

This a concept bra created by two students attending the University of Washington who wanted to "create a ways to give women options, free their hands, and let them party without worrying about a purse getting stolen".

You were thinking it, but they actually did it!

The JoeyBra has a discrete mesh pocket on the bra that can hold your most important items; most smart phones, ID's and debit/credit cards, and your key (not keys).

Best of all, you can do a spring pre order and it only cost $20.00! Catch the rope if its thrown to you!
You can order online at www.joeybra.com

Enamel Love

So nails have grown to be a huge part of our wardrobe. And the designs and color patterns I've been seeing have been off the creativity meter, and I can't choose so I'm going to do a post once a week dedicated to Nail Styles! The styles I've posted today are by Snezhanna, she has mad skills and always does her nails herself! One thing I love about her style is the accents that she uses with the base colors!

This Nail Design was inspired by the Box Office Hit, "The Hunger Games"

Perfect for Spring, Pink and Purple Pastels with Gold Accents
Fuchsia with Rhinestones

Beautiful Braid Design

Just found this picture of this amazing braid design! Definitely inspired. Going to do a post sometime soon on Braided hair styles. I also want to incorporate a braid into my hairstyle tomorrow. I'll post the results!

Have a Spring Fling with these Trending Colors

Although it doesn't exactly feel like spring right now in L.A. (why so cloudy Cali?) you can still warm up your wardrobe with these Spring Colors. These colors play on neutrals with out being too washed out. They look great paired together or worn alone. According to Pantone's Color Report, there are 10 colors that you should snag when you see them!

Here are some fun spreads that show the versatility of these colors and how they are Incorporated in clothing, make-up, nail polish, and even hair hues.

My Muse for today is Kailand. She is rocking the Olympian Blue sheer crossed top from Angle, paired perfectly with White Jeans from Forever 21 and Nude Strappy Sandals from Aldo. In the next picture she is doing a dress that is in the Pink Flambe category. I love that her earrings add an extra pop of color by also using the Ultra Marine Green hue.

Yeezy Taught Kim Well

Dare I ask the dreaded question?
Which name is more annoying, "Kimye" or "Kandashian"?
Nooo, not THAT question...

I'll hold my tongue for now and watch with the rest of the world. You can all just tell me how you feel about this multimillion dollar relationship that will keep everyone quitely curious for its duration. I got five on it! Weeks that is. How long do you think this is gonna last? They are both so pretty, I doubt they'll make each other cry (eyeroll).

Can't knock their style though. They will always win best dressed in the yearbook.

Rihanna Gets Girly in Glam Pink

Sporting a hot pink Marchesa Gown and black Loubiton pumps, Rihanna attends the Time 100 Gala in New York City last night.  Not gonna lie, I actually favor RiRi's grungy chic look from Coachella the past weekend. This dress can be any Disney Princesses wedding gown choice, but its definitely too far out of the style spectrum  for this starlet.

Can we get a repeat of the fabulous Armani dress you wore at the Grammys? ...

Phew! Okay I forgive her LOL.
What do you think?

Peplum Please! Do's and Please Dont's

Spring has definitely bloomed the love of the Blossoming Peplum style Dresses. This sophisticated look is a great choice for day to night wear. But beware for this classy look can go horribly wrong if you don't follow some guide lines.

 1. Leave the over exaggerated peplum styles for the runway. And if you have curves this can accentuate them in the in an unflattering way. So keep it simple!

2. Choose basic colors such as nude, blush, or black with little accents like cut outs or lace. Color blocking is also a good choice, but keep it to two colors!

3. Fabric! This dress is best in a breathable and stretchy fabric that forms to your fit. Try to avoid silky and shiny fabrics because they show imperfections like wrinkles and bulges.

The first two pictures are of my good friend Jazmine rocking a blush toned peplum dress with a V cut in the back. Perfect spring time dress!

Below are some more affordable options from asos that follow the trends of colorblocking and corals. Also a great twist to for your little black dress!

Live and Die in L.A.!

Woke up this morning and started my day listening to my L.A. anthems like normal. The newest addition to this playlist is Kendrick Lamar feat. Dr.Dre's "The Recipe"

Just heard that L.A. is one of the top disliked cities... Um WHATEVER! Y'all still coming for the Women Weed and Weather!

Why not shop for Winter in Spring?

Love these Loubitons! I would love to snag these early for next fall and winter.

Shopping tip! If you are on a budget, like most of the world is in this economy, shop outside of the current season! Snag boots and over sized sweaters in late spring and get a great price! Shop for maxi dresses and swim suites in early fall and get great deals.
